XIC 54th Annual Convocation

The XIC 54th Annual Convocation was held on 12th April, 2024 in the iconic St. Xavier’s College quadrangle, Mumbai. The event was attended in large numbers by parents, faculty members esteemed guests and students.
Fr. Conrad Pesso, SJ, Director-XIC addressed the gathering followed by a brief talk by Rector of St. Xavier’s College. Dr. Fr. Keith D’Souza, SJ.
There was a screening of the Academic year 2023 – 2024 that was.
The Chief Guest Ms. Farah Dada, VP, Brand Strategy, Aditya Birla Education Trust, Ex-Tata Sons, and XIC Alumnus, shared her insights and work experiences in her speech.
The Jane Swamy Memorial Award for ‘The Best All-round Student’ was awarded to Siddhant R. Konduskar of Journalism & Mass Communication Course. This Award was sponsored by Sandra Vaz, Course Head of Journalism & Mass Communication.
Trilight Creations Award for ‘The Best Student in Film, Television & Digital Video Production Course’ was awarded to Arpit Kumar Lal, and The Runner-up Best Student was awarded to Yashvi Daga
Ouseph Anthony Memorial Award for the Best Social Documentary, was awarded to "Urban Wildlife: Stories of Animal Rescuers", Team members: Shounak Bhutkar, Shravan Kumar Krishnamurthy, Arpit Kumar Lal, Jason James Rodrigues, Ananya Priyadarshini. This award was sponsored by Dr. Shaison P. Ouseph, Course Head of Film, Television & Digital Video Production.
Deepshikha Dharmaraj, Chief Executive Officer BCW Global Communications presented the Genesis BCW Vivek Samta Award for the Best PR student, Dakshata Jain and Runner-up Best PR Student, Gauri Kaushik. This award has been instituted by Genesis BCW in memory of late Vivek Samta, XIC PR Alumnus.
Mr. Kashiram Kadam, Head of Mar. Com., Iyengar’s Filter Kaapi presented the Iyengar’s Kaapi Award for the ‘Best Advertising students,’ Kush Shah (A Div.) and Aryavrat Malhotra (B.Div) and the Runner-up Best students Award were given to Supriyata Kulshrestha (A Div.) and Mishika Bansal (B Div.). These awards were sponsored by Mr. Ramesh Iyengar, Faculty of Advtg. & Mktg.
Award for Best Student in Event Planning & Experiential Marketing Course, was awarded to Natasha Mirani sponsored by Neale Murray and Runner-up Best student to Gabrielle D’Souza sponsored by Meghaa Ghosh.
The Best Student in Journalism & Mass Communication was awarded to Siddhant R. Konduskar sponsored by Yogesh Kamdar, Course Head of Journalism & Mass Communication and the XIC Award for Runner-up Best student in Journalism & Mass Communication was awarded to Vidhushi Raj Purohit
The Ranjana Kacker Memorial Awards,
• For Outstanding Research Paper in JR 2022-23 was awarded to Kairavi Lukka and
• The Best News Capsule in Broadcast Journalism 2023-24 was awarded to “Sports Beat” to team members: Siddhant R. Konduskar, Soumyaa Swarup, Surabhi Jha, Rout Swetapadma, Tanuja Dungar Singh Latwal, Unmit Mittal & Vidhushi RajPurohit
The Underdog Certificate of Commendation for the Best Copywriter in Advertising & Marketing was presented by Sr. Creative Directors of Underdog, Mr. Gopal M. S. to Aryavrat Malhotra.
The BBDO Award for Best Creative Act for Social Change, was awarded to “Acts not Ads” to team members, Dhruv Sinha, Rakshita Tiwary, Muskan Das, Richa Goolry, Sania Usmani, Madhusree Pothineni, Navya Oberoi, Neha Liz Chungath, Jahanvi Rapaka & Leander M. Pereira.
The Best Experiential Campaign Award, sponsored by Neale Murray, was awarded to “Time Remembers” to following team members: Aakarsha Jagga, Aditya Shinde, Aryavrat Malhotra, Isha S. Nair, Mishika Bansal, Omkar Naik, Saeesha Pandita, Sanya Malhotra, Shruthi Mahadevan, Vandana P. & Yashasvi Negi
The Venkat Vemulapalli Memorial Awards, has been instituted in memory of Venkat Vemulapalli, ex-AM student of XIC by his parents Mr. Srinivas & Mrs. Ratna Vemulapalli, for Best AD Films and Best Live Client Projects. AdMa A, The Best Ad Film was awarded to “Drop the Mask” to team members: Aastha Vasudev, Bhoomi Goyal, Gauri Khandelwal, Lay Shah, Manya Srivastava, Nikita Rajpurohit, Shreya Das, Shristi Agarwal, Shruti Poddar, Tanishq Kamble & Vedika Dureja
AdMa B, The Best Film Award was awarded to “Are you OK” to team members: Dhruv Sinha, Rakshita Tiwary, Muskan Das, Richa Goolry, Sania Usmani, Madhusree Pothineni, Navya Oberoi, Neha Liz Chungath, Jahanvi Rapaka & Leander M. Pereira.
AdMa A - The Best Ad Film Runner-up was awarded to “Embrace your True Self” to team members: Kush Shah, Naman Kapri, Doreen Danty, Supriyata Kulshrestha, Priyanshi Selarka, Satyasree Balla, Pareesha Vajani, Hardik Shinde, Neoshi Shah, Rishika Shetty & Sakshi Walavalkar.
AdMa B - The Best Ad Film Runner-up was awarded to “Fairly Told” to team members: Aakarsha Jagga, Aditya Shinde, Isha S. Nair, Mishika Bansal, Vandana P., Omkar Naik, Saeesha Pandita, Sanya Malhotra, Shruthi Mahadevan, Yashasvi Negi & Aryavrat Malhotra.
Best Live Client Project for AdMa A - was awarded to "Life Banaye Eajy" working on brief from Live Client "Tata Ace" to team members: Ishita Thapar, Manya Srivastava, Swaha Mishra , Nandini Bisht, Cleon Braganza, Ashutosh Mishra, Sanvid Vaidya, Jahnavi Karunakaran, Shristi Agarwal, Bhoomi Goyal & Mahek Garg.
AdMa B - was awarded to "Get blamed for everything but I.T." working on brief from Live Client "Anunta" to team members: Aryavrat Malhotra, Yashasvi Negi, Mishika Bansal, Kanak Swamy, Riddhi Surve, Omkar Naik, Vandana P., Anuj Singh, Suhashi Mehta, Kuhuk Agarwal & Parth Unadkat.
Best Live Client Project Runner-up AdMa A, was awarded to "Stop Making Sense" working on brief from Live Client "Crossline (Hind Corporattion)" to team members: Bhoomii Mehta, Mohini Jhunjhunwala, Naman Kapri, Pareesha Vajani, Advait Savargaonkar, Shivi Sharma, Doreen Danty, Radhika Agrawal, Gauri Khandelwal, Hardik Shinde & Aastha Vasudev.
AdMa B was awarded to "Every I tells a story" working on brief from Live Client "Eye Story" to team members: Shruthi Mahadevan, Simran Parmar, Maria Noronha, Yukta Mutreja, Madhusree Pothineni, Richa Goolry, Muskan Das, Sanya Malhotra, Rakshita Tiwary, Isha S. Nair & Navya Oberoi.
Siddhant Konduskar, the Best All Round Student, gave his valedictorian speech followed by felicitation of Class Representatives.
Mario Fernandes, the Administrator gave the vote of thanks. He thanked every department responsible for the success of the Convocation Ceremony.
