Orientation XIC

This academic year 2012-13, Orientation was held on 2nd and 3rd July 2012 at St. Xavier’s College Hall. The first day started with a warm Welcome Address by Fr. Lawrence Ferrao, SJ, Director, following with a short speech by Fr. Anthony Dias, S.J., Director, Xavier Institute of Social Research & Board Member, XIC, Dr. J. B. Mistry, Acting Dean & Board Member, XIC, spoke about Academics for the year, inspirational talk about the Jesuit Ethos was given by Fr. Errol Fernandes, S.J., Vice-Principal (Commerce), SXC. The chief speaker for the evening was Mr. Josy Paul, Chairman and National Creative Director, BBDO India, he is our Alumnus and Faculty Member of Advtg. & Mktg. Communication Course at XIC.
The second day started off with Fr. Terence Quadros, S.J., Student Counsellor, SXC who took an interesting session about Classroom Survival. Fr. Gordon Daniells, S.J., Head Corporate Extn. Services, XIC - had his Ice Breakers interactive sessions with the students following with an in-depth journey about Finding Meaning in Life.
A Panel Discussion was held on the Topic The Opportunity Called ‘The Communication Industry’ The Panelists consisting some of our own Alumni, Areeb Sherwani (JR 2011) Akhila Natrajan (PR 2008), Karishma Desai (PR 2010) Riddhi Kapoor (AM 2010) and Franco S. D'Souza (MCM 2005), This interactive session was closely Moderated by Rajeev Chawla, Course Head, Public Relations & Corp. Comm. Each of the panelist gave a brief about their personal experiences they had about the media, they also shared their experience during their tenure at XIC, there was an interactive Question and Answer sessions towards the end.
