JR launches Bambai Charcha
By Adwitiya Deb, JR batch 2024-25

March 27, 2025, the last day of college for the students of Journalism and Media Convergence (JR). JR students had saved the best for the last as they ended their journey at XIC by launching their magazine Bambai Charcha. Naresh Fernandes, the editor of Scroll.in graced this occasion as the chief guest. The faculty members of JR, XIC staff and EPM students, came together to turn this event into a success.
The program started off with an interesting conversation with Naresh Fernandes about the long-form journalism in the digital age and its future; along with sidebars to Naresh's stories of Mumbai and his own journey as an author and journalist.

Next up was the much awaited launch, that kickstarted with a skit prepared by the JR students showcasing the process that goes behind producing a magazine.

After Naresh launched Bambai Charcha in an 'oh so dramatic' way, a digital flipbook of the magazine was displayed to the guests as the contents and theme of the magazine were being showcased through the flipbook.

While the guests were all heads down, going through the magazine, "Aye dil hai mushkil jeena yaha, zara hatke, zara bachke, yeh hai Bombay meri jaan" was echoing within the four walls of the room. With everyone smiling as brightly as they could reminiscing old memories, the students of Journalism and Media Convergence 2024-25 bid adieu to XIC.
