XIC 48^thAnnual Convocation

The XIC 48^th Annual Convocation was held on 20th April, 2018 in the iconic St. Xavier’s College quadrangle, Mumbai. The chief guest for the event was Ms.Valerie Pinto, Chief Executive Officer, Weber Shandwick India and an XIC Alumnus, PR 1999 batch. Dr. Jehangir Mistry, Dean of XIC gave us an academic review of the year 2017 – 2018.

The following awards were given on the 48^th Annual Convocation

The Sandra Gomes Memorial Award for The Best All round student of the year 2017 -2018 to Ms. Mrunmayee Goda, from the PR Course, sponsored by Mr. Neville Gomes.

Ranjana Kacker Memorial Award sponsored by her husband, Mr. Sunil Kacker for

a. Outstanding Research Paper in Journalism, 2016-2017 was awarded to Jayshankar Ramu and Prahlad Srihari,

b. BEST Broadcast Radio & TV News Production (JR) was awarded to IBC NEWS team members - Prashasti Awasthi, Abanti Chattopadhyay, Aishwarya Dabhade, Natasha D'souza, Aditya Malik, Natasha Patel, Payal Shah, Bhuvanesh Shastri, Aniket Tiwari

c. BEST Video Documentary Production (JR) was awarded to KALA GHODA ART BEAT OF MUMBAI team members - Shreya Gupta, Nandana James, Harshada Kulkarni, Vasu Sharma, Shalkie, Mohd. Saiful Islam Siddiqui, Karishma Sinha, Aena Thakur, Vatsal Udani, Vandita Sariya, Dustin Yarde, Hina Yadav

The Venkat Vemulapalli Memorial Awards instituted in his memory by his parents Mr. Srinivas & Mrs. Ratna Vemulapalli

a. Best Ad Film, for Ad "Wonder Brief” was awarded to the team members - Anamika Thakur, Arshdeep Khurana, Chitra Varde, Ishita Agarwal, Pallavi Chauhan. Reneta Saldanha, Sahiba Kaushal, Shradha Nair, Srishti Sarkar, Sudhanshu Vyas.

 b. 1^stRunner-Up Ad "Memory Marker” was awarded to the team members - Aashi Bhardwaj, Abhinav Bhardwaj, Abhinav Sehgal, Devansh Chaudhary, Disha Chandna, Hariom Tiwari, Rutuja Pawar, Shibumi Desai, Yash Chansoria.

 c. 2^ndRunner-Up Ad "Chin Gum” was awarded to the team members - Abhigyan Dasgupta, Anokhi Dasgupta, Anurag Gupta, Drupad Mehta, Maitreya Shukla, Sanjay Sibi Thomas, Shubhashish Chowdhury, Simran Verghese, Vaibhavi Jobalia, Vashishtha Joshi.

 d. Best Live Project "La Pinoz” was awarded to the team members - Ananya Banga, Kshitij Kalra, Abhinav Sehgal, Om Thaker, Meghna Rastogi, Avni Arora, Devansh Chaudhary, Disha Chandna.

 e. 1^stRunner-Up Award for Live Project "Vittoria Furniture” to the team members - Anurag Gupta, Hariom Tiwari, Sudhanshu Vyas, Vashishtha Joshi, Dhruv Chauhan, Yash Chansoria, Shubham Chheda, Abhinav Bhardwaj, Saloni Chopra, Shubhangi Bansal.

 f. 2^ndRunner-Up Award for Live Project "Bombay Natural Company”, to the team members - Anamika Thakur, Anamta Saltanat, Arshdeep Khurana, Chitra Varde, Ishita Agarwal, Pallavi Chauhan, Rini Tater, Sahiba Kaushal, Shibumi Desai, Shradha Nair, Shrishti Sarkar.

The Best Audio-Visual Social Documentary Award (FT), in memory of (Late) Hrishikesh Mukherjee was sponsored by Mr. Satish Bhatia, for Documentary"Hiraeth” to team members - Udit Khurana, Anisha Kanunga, Rickson Ambrose, Twinkle Jain, Aditya Jha,Paroma Bose, Mandira Roy.

NABARD, Award for Best student in Communication for Development sponsored by Nabard was awarded to Ms. Anushka Dias and runner up award to Ms. Charu Bahal.

XIC Award for Best Student in Journalism and Mass Communications was awarded to Ms. Natasha Patel

S.S. Oberoi Award for The Best Student in Film, Television & Digital Video Production, was shared by Mr. Samudraneel Roy, Ms. Twinkle Jain and Ms. Mandira Rina Roy.

The Genesis Burson-Marsteller, Vivek Samta Award for The BEST Student in Public Relations & Corporate Communication was awarded to Ms. Mrunmayee Goda and 1^st Runner-up to Ms. Barot Shruti Yogesh and 2^ndRunner up to Mr. Nadeesh Bhambi.

The Mumbai Live Award for Best student in Mass Communications Marathi was awarded to Mr. Atul Prakash Chavan.

The Select Direct Marketing Communications Award for Best student in Advertising & Marketing Communications - to Ms. Anamika Thakur

Vote of Thanks was proposed by staff member, Ms. Sandra Rana followed by the XIC Anthem.

The convocation ceremony signified a new phase of life where the graduates are poised to embrace and tackle any challenges in the Media world. Our heartiest Congratulations to the Post Graduate students of Xavier Institute of Communications.
