04-October-2016

A study tour to Maharashtra Prabodhan Seva Mandal, Nashik was undertaken from 23rd to 25th September 2016 by the C4D students. Course Head Mr. Abhay Mokashi organized this three-day field trip for these enthusiastic bunch of 17 students.

The first day, post lunch session was a briefing by Fr. Anthony Dias SJ about MPSM. This was followed by a session by Fr Joel Noronha on Sustainable Development. The late evening session was a walk along the Godavari with Mr Mokashi and Fr Anthony with an aim to study the present condition of the Holy River and waste management which ended up in some enlightening encounters between the students and some environmentally insensitive inhabitants of the nearby localities. After the walk, the students returned to meet Br Joseph Kantela. His talk on the lives of the Tribals was useful for the next day’s trip to Mokhada.

The next day, September 24th, the students along with Mr Mokashi, Fr Tony and Mr Popat Karate spent the entire day visiting villages of Jawar, Mokhada and Munjyachi. They met to study different aspects of tribal living like health, education, sanitation, employment, caste issues, security, Public Distribution System and infrastructure. The students, divided into pairs got the opportunity to interact with the tribals and also visit a local Anganwadi.

The final day, September 25th, began with in informative session on Organic farming by Fr Godfrey D’Lima, which was followed by a concluding talk by Mr Mokashi and Fr Tony.

Late afternoon, the students began their return journey having had some incredible learning experiences, and beautiful memories. Of course a promise was made to visit the beautiful city again.
